Nutrition Counselling for Pets

By assessing your dog or cat’s diet, we address gaps and support balanced nutrition.

Nutrition counselling helps us to keep account of your dog or cat’s diet, addressing any potential gaps. It can feel overwhelming wandering the dog or cat food aisle, trying to decide which product is best for them. With our expert advice, you can take the guesswork out of trying to determine which foods are best for your cat or dog.

How do you make dietary recommendations?

Before we can make recommendations about which foods work best for your dog or cat, we assess their overall health. During our nutritional counselling appointments, we don’t take a one-size fits all approach to your dog or cat’s dietary needs. Considerations like their lifestyle breed, age, weight, and overall health are taken into account when determining which food would best support their nutritional needs. If it is suspected that your dog/cat has a food intolerance or allergy, we will be able to recommend diets to diagnose and manage this condition.

If your cat has arthritis, we could recommend a diet rich in whole foods that support pain management. Your dog or cat’s diet plays an integral role in their overall health and can be a helpful tool to support a healthier life. What food should my dog or cat stay away from?

In addition to recommending nutrient-rich foods, we also provide insights into what you should avoid feeding your dog or cat. As part of our family, it can be tempting to have them join in the fun of family dinners. Though it could seem harmless, some things like table scraps could be detrimental to your dog or cat’s health. You should avoid feeding them any of the following, regardless of their begging and pleading:

  • Chocolate
  • Raw meat
  • Eggs
  • Raisins
  • Caffeine
